prior to using the site with the students. Many sites also require plugins such as Shockwave, RealOnePlayer, or Quicktime, as well as needing JavaScript and ActiveX. Previewing
a site before using it with students is always a good idea.

- AAA Math
- Interactive math activities for K - 8. Javascript must be enabled to use the activities.
- AplusMath.com
- This site offers online and printable flashcards and worksheets as well as games using the basic math operations. Java and non-Java versions are available.
- The ArithmAttack
- How many computer-generated arithmetic problems can you answer in 60 seconds? Go to this site to find out. The four basic math operations are available. You can also download this activity to your own computer.
- Aunty Math
- Aunty Mathilda is really a math specialist for an Illinois school district. Her site provides math challenges for K - 5 students.
- Count On Hand-Held Game
- This is a game using a combination of addition and multiplication facts.
- Count Us In
- These games work with basic number concepts. The site is part of the Australian Broadcasting Company website.
- Counting Game
- Count ten sets of objects using the numbers 1 to 9.
- Create a Graph
- Students can enter data to create and print a graph at this National Center for Education Statistics website.
- Cyberchallenge
- The Flash player is required to practice basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division facts. The player works against a ticking clock for one minute. The activity displays right and wrong answers.
- Cyberchase
- This is the companion website for this PBS show for 8 to 11 year-olds. It's all about making math fun!
- DynaMo's Den
- You will need the Flash and Shockwave players for this site. Click on Dynamazing Games to find the games Clockwise and Matching Time. There are lots of loud sound effects. The Den is part of the BBC Education site called DynaMo. You may want to check out the other math games as well as the history, science, and language sections of DynaMo, but the differences between British and American vocabulary and money systems will be apparent in many activities.
- Flashcards for Kids
- The ability to adjust the level of the flash cards allows the student to practice basic math facts and more.
- FunBrain.com Numbers
- This site has educational games for children. The games have different levels which make them
appropriate for more than one grade level. This link will take you to the math games.
- Kindergarten Mathematics Index
- Simple math activities that require Shockwave
- Learning Planet Games Pre-School - Kindergarten
- The counting and number recognition games at this site use the numbers 1 to 10. The Shockwave player is required.
- Learning Planet Games Grades 1 - 3
- Spacey Math provides practice with basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts with a shoot-the-spaceship game. Children must sign in to play the game; cookies are used to keep the high scores and to let children pick up at the level where they left off. The Shockwave player is required.
- Literacy Center - The Early Childhood Education Network
- Readiness games are available in English, French, German, and Spanish. Flash Player is needed for this site.
- Little Animals Activity Centre
- Language and math games can be found at this site from the BBC.
- Math Fact Cafe
- Click on the flashcards to practice basic math operations. Levels for grades one to three are currently available. You can also create your own worksheets at the site or use the pre-made ones.
- Multiplication Concentration
- A fun game for praticing multiplicaton facts
- National Library of Virtual Manipulatives
- These interactive math activities are a National Science Foundation project at Utah State University. The browser must be set to accept Java applets to use the activities.
- NCTM Electronic Abacus Applet
- This Java applet is one of many to be found at the National Council of the Teachers of Mathematics Illuminations PreK - 12 website.
- Numbertime
- BBC Education provides games for practicing beginning math skills (K - 1). Oh, that frog with the British accent! Shockwave is required for this site. You will want to download this graphic intense site to your cache before using it with students. You will probably want to explain the British accent to American children.
- Practical Money Skills for Life
- Visa provides this resource for teachers, parents, students, and consumers. The student section has printable activities and online games arranged by age level. There is a teacher resource section as well.
- PrimaryGames.com - Math
- These Java games provide practice in some basic learning skills.
- Varnelle Moore's Primary Math
- There is a technology activity to do at the website as well as giving a plan for a manipulative activity, a paper-pencil activity, and a literature connection for each lesson. The geometry section uses pattern blocks; the measurement uses Cuisenaire bars.
